Key projects ERPSYSVAR and SUPERB programme – follow-up audit of the implementation of key recommendations

Chancellery – Digital Transformation and ICT Steering Sector, Federal Office for Buildings and Logistics, Federal Finance Administration, Federal Office of Information Technology, Systems and Telecommunication, Defence Group

Key facts

The Swiss Federal Audit Office (SFAO) carried out a follow-up audit at various audited bodies on the implementation of recommendations from the audits of the two programmes SUPERB and ERPSYSVAR between 2018 and 2023. Both of these programmes were designed to modernise the support processes of the Federal Administration and the mission-relevant SAP systems in the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS).

As part of this follow-up audit, the SFAO assessed the implementation of 22 of its recommendations; 17 of which have been fully implemented.

The audit showed that the risks identified in various SFAO audits were taken seriously and dealt with adequately. For example, the urgently needed guidelines and tools for using cloud technology were developed and implemented. The continued operation of the specialist applications was ensured after SAP S/4HANA went live in autumn 2023. However, the specialist applications have not yet been fully adapted to the architecture specifications and this work is still ongoing. The SFAO found that recommendations in the area of governance to ensure the organisation of ERP services after the end of the programme, as well as recommendations on master data issues, have not yet been implemented.
